Branson Famous - a new reality show with a twist!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Branson Famous for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

When I first saw the previews for Branson Famous, it definitely caught my eye. Growing up a short distance away from Branson, I was always going there! It was the closest place to shop, eat out at something besides fast food, and do something fun besides sit around at home. So you can say Branson has a special place in my heart. It was where I went on dates, spent birthdays, and shopped for family and friends. Even though I now live in Texas, Branson is still a special place for me. I don't think I've ever made a trip home, without going to Branson. It's a big part of my family and what we do. So you can imagine that I was excited to hear about the new show on truTV.

Branson Famous is the first of its kind – a “reality musical.” To me, it sounds quite interesting, because personally, I’m getting bored with the usual reality shows. Branson Famous revolves around the Mabe family. They are stars and producers of Branson’s longest-running variety show – The Baldknobbers Jamboree. Of course, since this is their legacy and their life, they take the show very seriously. When you have passion and financial decline, drama is sure to follow. The premiere episode shows the family auditioning new, youthful singers to help modernize their act. I think this a struggle that many companies face in this day and age – trying to connect to the youth of America. When words are not enough, they just might surprise you by breaking into song!

Check out this video for a preview of what you can expect on the show!

The Mabe Family is considered Branson royalty. Tim is the patriarch of the family and producer of the Baldknobbers show. He is comic relief on stage and is the signature charcter of “Droopy Drawers.” Patty, is the martriarch of the family. She performs in the show as well as selects the wardrobe for the show and runs the family’s motel and restaurant! Busy lady! Tim and Patty have been married 32 years, so this really is a family show!

Brandon Mabe is the son of Tim and Patty. He runs the marketing, graphic design, and theatre management efforts. Brandon works 24/7 to keep the show afloat financially. Additionally, he sings and MCs the show every night! With that kind of pressure, I can imagine the stress adds up!
Megan McCombs moved to Branson in 2008 to pursue her dream of singing. She is a lead vocalist for the Baldknobbers. Every Mabe has an opinion about her, but with talent and success, jealousy comes with the territory.

Brandon and Megan are the “Brangelina of Branson.” They fell in love on stage and divorced their spouses so they could be together off-stage. This is the couple everyone love to gossip about in town.
Breezy is the only Mabe family member not on stage! She wants to perform but currently manages the gift shop while she takes singing lessons.

These are just a few of the interesting characters you will see on the show! Personally, I think the concept of the show is new and interesting. Of course, when there is family drama involved, it’s always interesting to watch. I'm excited to learn more about the characters and the dynamic of family and staff. Being from the area, I have a peaked interested in watching, but I think people from all over the country will enjoy watching this new show, especially, because people from all over the country come to Branson to enjoy the area.

I’ll be tuning in to watch the premiere episode of Branson Famous on December 29th at 10/9C. I encourage you to watch as well and let me know what you thought!

Somewhere I've Always Wanted to Travel

I'm going to try to start blogging more. I like writing and would like to have this blog as a record of my life. My problem is that I don't always know what to post about, because I don't usually do that much in terms of variety. I work a full-time job from 7:30-4 but am usually there early or staying late. Not to mention the commute, so I'm gone for nearly 12 hours out of the day. I come home and am mentally exhausted. Some times physically as well, just depending on how the day went. I don't want to do much in the way of blogging or anything really. So I'm going to go through a blog topic list that The College Prepster wrote to try to get into a better grove of posting. I'll try to write a post every few days.

Somewhere I've Always Wanted to Travel

There are so many places in the world that I want to see in my lifetime, so narrowing this down was difficult. The place I've always wanted to travel is Italy. For as long as I can remember, this has been on my list of places to go before I die. I don't really know what drew me to Italy as a young child, but it's always been on my mind. I think it's partly the history behind the country. I love history and learning about different time periods, cultures, ways of life, etc. It fascinates me to think about how the people in that country used to live and what they did day-to-day.

If I ever get to go to Italy there are definitely some must see things on my list:
  • Colosseum
  • Pantheon
  • Leaning Tower of Pisa
  • Trevi Fountain
  • See "The Last Supper"
  • Check out the Vatican Museums
  • See an opera
  • Visit Pompeii
  • Eat gelato daily
  • Eat pizza daily
  • Take a night ride on the #1 vaporetto in Venice
Those are some must-dos on my list! What would you do if you traveled to Italy?

Review of Skintimate® Mandarin Burst Shave Gel

I received a full-size bottle of Skintimate® Mandarin Burst Shave Gel from Crowdtap to try out and review!

I have to say I love Skintimate! I always have and probably always will. Sometimes I stray and buy a different shave gel or even go without. I always regret it! I've never tried the Mandarin Burst before, so I was excited to try a new smell! Let me tell you, it smells great! It's kind of like a citrus-y drink and sometimes smells like a margarita (without the alcohol smell)! Overall, I really loved the product. Skintimate never disappoints me!

Wedding Planning

Yikes! It is already September and I feel like I have nothing done for the wedding! It's hard planning a wedding and working full-time. I'm hoping to find some time this month to get a few things done.

Goals for Wedding Planning

  • Get hotel rooms blocked off
  • Finish spray painting wine bottles (if it's cool enough)
  • Decide on a DJ or not and if so, book them.
Just a little over 6 months to the wedding and I know time will fly by, so I want to get as much done as I can!

Summer Time

This summer has been a whirlwind! It all started on my last day of work...we drove to Arkansas to attend our good friend's wedding on June 14th. It was a beautiful wedding and it was nice seeing lots of people we haven't seen in a while.

Bobby headed back to Texas on Sunday, while I stayed in Arkansas and hung out with my family for a week. We didn't do much but I got to see my grandma's so that was nice.

I flew back to Texas and stayed for a week and a half. Bobby and I went to Pennsylvania to visit Susie, Chad, and Bryce for the Fourth of July weekend. It was a great trip! The weather was amazing and a little cold! We had a lot of fun hanging out with just Susie, Chad, and Bryce, which we don't get to do often. We had a relaxing weekend. We saw the most amazing fireworks show and even visited New York one day. We flew back to Dallas and got home at 1AM. The next day, I drove back to Dallas to pick up my brother! We headed back home. Wednesday the 9th was his birthday. We went and watched a movie. Then, on Thursday, we went skydiving! It was an incredible experience, but I'm not sure I want to do it again. After that, Josh and I decided to just chill out. We didn't do much, saw another movie, attended the company picnic, etc. The next Thursday, my parents drove down and visited. We went to Six Flags in Arlington. We also visited the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose, which is a drive through safari. It was fun to see/feed the animals! They left early last Friday. That afternoon, Bobby and I drove down to New Braunfels, TX to float the river and attend a concert. Saturday was a long day, but it was fun. We attempted to break the record for the largest river float. We think we participated in it, but it was hard to say as there were so many people! It was still pretty fun. We headed back to the place we were staying to chill out and get ready for the concert. We saw Matt Caldwell and Roger Creager. The concert was amazing! It was Roger's fourth night in a row of singing at Gruene Hall but you couldn't tell by his energy and his voice still sounded amazing! We passed out as soon as we got back from exhaustion! On our way back to Waco, we stopped and visited our friends Catie and Patrick in Austin to meet their 6 day old (at the time) baby! Little baby girl is so sweet and tiny. It was great to see her and two of my other good friends! Since then, I haven't done much. I'm trying to soak up my last few weeks of summer break, before going back to work. I still have a few things planned but I'm taking advantage of the break! It's nice to just hang out with my dog and watch whatever I want on TV. :)

Until next time...

Herbal Essences Naked VoxBox from Influenster

Today I received my Herbal Essences Naked VoxBox from Influenster. This is my 3rd VoxBox from Influenster. It's a little different than the previous ones I've received. This VoxBox includes a dry shampoo, and a travel size of shampoo and conditioner! I actually like the travel size, so that I can try it out before having a full size bottle to go through. What I love about these products is that they are free of heavy residues, parabens, and dyes! I received the moisture collection in the shampoo and conditioner, which is perfect for me. They smell amazing and I can't wait to try them. I'm going to try to the products out tomorrow and will update my thoughts then. Meanwhile, here is a picture of the products.

Wedding Planning - Venue

It's true what they say...you never realize how much goes into a wedding until you actually have to plan one yourself. So many little details that I never even thought about when I would pin things on Pinterest. Thankfully, we have plenty of time until the wedding day but I like to have things figured out ahead of time, so I need to remind myself of that. I booked the venue in early December. It's somewhat early but our date is actually something that we will not compromise on, therefore, I wanted to make sure we got where we wanted on our date!

The wedding will be in Waco on March 14, 2015. Bobby suggested this date before we were technically engaged. I thought it was so sweet that he spontaneously thought of that, so of course I said okay! Plus, I wanted plenty of time to plan!

Here are a few photos of our venue

The plan is for the ceremony to be outside, with the reception inside. There's still a lot of logistics to work out but I have a general idea of just about everything. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out a DJ and a photo booth, because both are so expensive but we will see how it all works out!

I love the space. It's in an arboretum, which is just gorgeous! It might not be as green in March but it is still a really nice area.

Until next time...
