Happy Birthday to Bobby!

Yesterday was Bobby's 24th birthday! He took off work (yay!) and we took a fun trip to Shiner, TX to visit the K. Spoetzl Brewery. Shiner Bock is Bobby's favorite beer, so I thought it would be fun to take the trip to the brewery since we are only about 2 hours away. The brewery is still independently owned and is in the original location. They've expanded to keep up with demand, of course. However, one thing I learned was that they only have 1 bottling line, so they can only bottle one type of beer at a time! Usually that is their most popular beer, Shiner Bock. They do have several specialty beers that they make (some regularly, some seasonal). They had a ton of merchandise available to buy, which we had to refrain from buying a bunch of stuff!! We ended up getting a sign for above the TV, which we've needed something since we moved in. Bobby also got a koozie (which he now claims he collects) and a t-shirt! Monday night when Bobby got home from playing racquetball I decided to give him his gifts.  All in all it was a great day! In addition to this, Saturday we went to the Round Rock Outlets and Bobby got new shoes and a new backpack. We also ate at Red Lobster! I got him these things for his PlayStation controller, not exactly sure what they do but he says they help him with his game, so that works for me! I'd say he made out like a bandit this year! Here are some pictures from the day...

What I'm Wearing Wednesday

Since I just started with these daily posts, I have had time to snap a photo of what I've been wearing, but hopefully soon! So for now, I'm going to post some of my favorite outfits that I've seen on Pinterest from Polyvore.

blueberry limeade
I really like the unique color combination paired with the leather boots and handbag! Plus scarfs are always fun!

sunny & gray
This outfit is super cute with the pops of yellow! A perfect spring outfit!
Anthro Dress
This dress is adorable!
work wear #4
Lately I've had to begin dressing up for part of my schooling. I love that I get to do that but I find that I don't have that many pieces that work well together, so I am really loving getting inspiration from Pinterest and Polyvore. Now to just have enough money to get all these outfits!
bluish
I really like the simplicity of this outfit.

Hopefully next time, I can show you guys what I'm wearing!

Cleaning Checklists

I felt inspired by Pinterest, as I do often. I have a problem with keeping up with cleaning tasks around our apartment. I generally let things get so bad until I cannot stand them and then go on a cleaning and organizing frenzy. This does not mean our apartment is a huge pig sty, because I cannot let things get that bad before I feel like cleaning. It is hard during the week because we are both pretty busy between class, work, practicum, carpooling, homework, and racquetball.

Several times I had come across posts on Pinterest about cleaning 15-30 minutes per day to keep your house clean. This intrigued me. I searched for a long time to find checklists, plans, and ideas that fit what I wanted to accomplish. None that I found really fit us and our lifestyle, so I wrote out a list of what I wanted to do each day, then added tasks for Monday-Friday. Each day focuses on a different part of the house: Bathroom, Living Room/Dining Room, Kitchen, Bedroom, and Friday is a general day. The Daily Cleaning Tasks is fairly general, so I think it would work for almost anyone. Some might have to adjust the trash and recycling days to fit your own trash schedule. Here is a screenshot of the checklist. Click the link below the picture for a free download!

Next I wanted a checklist for things that need to be done monthly and quarterly. Again these are fairly general, so hopefully many people can use them. Here is the screenshot. Click the link below the picture for a free download!

I hope some people can find use for these checklists in their cleaning routines. My original idea was to laminate the sheets so that they could be used over and over again, but I don't have anything to laminate with, so I found some clear page protectors used for reports that give them same effect of lamination. I put them on the fridge for easy access! Thanks for reading!

Philadelphia

Last week I had the opportunity to travel to Philadelphia, PA for a school psychology conference. Three of my cohort members and myself submitted a proposal for our poster to be considered at the Trainers of School Psychology Annual Conference, which coincides with the National Association of School Psychology (NASP) Convention. We were accepted and secured travel funds through our university, so the trip was basically expenses paid. It was a great opportunity to get our names out there and get experience with a conference. We arrived Monday to explore the city (none of us had been before). Tuesday we explored the city some more and had our presentation that night. That evening we went to a great tapas bar with some colleagues and stuffed our faces. Wednesday we ventured to NASP before we had to journey back to Texas. Overall it was great experience, but I was glad to be back home. We are hoping to attend NASP next year, which is in Seattle!

Here we are after a day of airports and flying

And finally...the reason we came...us with our poster!

Slacking

Blogging has definitely been on my back burner the past 3 (?) weeks since school started. In reality I haven't been that busy (thank goodness) just super stressed (not good). Thankfully, some things are working out so I am a little less stressed but still not carefree (not that I am ever completely carefree). This semester I've been working in a middle and high school with two school psychologists (LSSPs) to get my feet wet, so to speak. So far it's been a good experience, despite a few stressful moments. The thing is for our classes we have projects that coordinate with our time/resources in the school(s) in which we are working. You would think finding kids to participate in these projects would be really easy considering there are tons of kids in a school ;) Compared to the last two semesters, where we had to find kids ourselves, not within the context of a school, just from people we knew (um, I didn't know anyone) this should be a breeze, right?! Not so fast... but it's all working out and I have (I think) kids/resources lined up for all my projects this semester. So this past week I've observed testing, gave tests, and sat in on ARD meetings. It's really been a great experience so far and while I still have so far to go and so much to learn I really enjoy what I've been doing. I'm going two days a week (most weeks) to get the required number of hours for the university (200 hours).

What we've been up to since school started:
Finally got my Christmas present :)
I went on a wine tasting tour with some friends. This was a view at one of the winerys.

We went to San Antonio to celebrate 4 years together

Before going out to eat

View from the restaurant. It was a revolving restaurant!

Learned more about Texas

Here is the Tower of the Americas, where we ate.

Bobby got to see the Alamo for the first time and I got to see it for a second time.

Saw flamingos at the zoo in San Antonio

A cute bear!

And of course zebras too :)
